The present Company at Toronto, known as the "124th NSW Toronto Company of The Boys' Brigade Australia", was constituted on 16 May 1985. Toronto has had previous Companies. The Company is sponsored by Toronto Baptist Church which provides us with a venue and is responsible for the selection of the Officers. Since that time the 124th NSW Toronto Company has grown from a small group of Boys into a church Boys Club to its present levels.
Throughout its time the Company has played an active role in Church life with Boys and Officers contributing in a large variety of ways. At present many Senior Boys are active in their own churches which cover a range of denominations. Boys lead singing, take part in drama, assisting with working-bees.
The 124th NSW Toronto Company has been involved in the wider Community making contributions to the Toronto Assistance Centre, a welfare agency, taking part annually in the Anzac Day Parade. Individual Boys have interests which involve them in other groups such as the Bands which abound in this area.
The 124th NSW Toronto Company has been a Registered Operator of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme since 1990 with all Boys over 14 years of age registered. 4 Silver awards have been gained and many Bronze awards. The Toronto Girls' Brigade Company has its Girls registered through the 124th NSW Toronto Company and both the Boys and Girls work together in expedition training and groups to complete that part of the awards system.
The 124th Toronto No. 2 section was combined with the 192nd Senior/Pioneer Toronto Girls Company from 1991 to 2003. The two companies did opening and closing parade together and split up to do there own activities. The No. 2 section now combines with the Anchor Boys and No. 1 section on Monday nights were they also do opening and closing parade together and then spit up to do there own activities.
The 124th NSW Toronto Company is actively involved in Battalion and State affairs. It takes part in all Battalion events which include the No.2 Section Swimming Carnival, No.1 Section House-party, Anchor Boy Fun day, No.2 Section Camp, Battalion Church Parade. It has taken part in the Australia's Wonderland Camps, Founders Day Parade, State Leadership Development Courses with most of the senior having attended. The Boys that have been awarded The Queen's Badge are listed in the Roll of Honour.
The Boys' Brigade is the oldest voluntary uniformed recreational club for Boys being formed in 1883 in Glasgow Scotland. It was the forerunner of many of the present youth organisations. World wide it has a membership in the order of half a million members throughout 30 countries.
